Two axed schools set to live on as stop-gap

Two axed primary schools could become home to pupils once again over the next few years as the city council reveals proposals for the future of the buildings.

Lismore Primary in Bingham – which closes for good on Friday – is being looked at as a possible temporary school for pupils from St John's Primary in Portobello while their crumbling school is refurbished or rebuilt.

And Westburn Primary in Wester Hailes – which will close next summer – could be used for pupils at St Crispin's Special School, which is also awaiting modernisation under the council's "wave three" programme.
