Anyone wanting to experience the thrill of skydiving should get in touch with the new pyjamas campaign for Scotland’s new Sick Kids hospital.

The new pyjamas campaign is organising a sponsored tandem skydive at Scotland’s friendliest skydive location, Fife airfield, on 24 and 25 April.

The campaign needs 40 volunteers to take part in the tandem skydive, but you need to register now to be able to take part.

This is the second skydive to be organised by the new pyjamas campaign. The first took place in September last year and Alan Macrae, a former patient of the Sick Kids hospital, was one of the first to sign up.

Alan and his instructor stepped gracefully out of the air and onto the runway after a dream jump which simply didn’t last long enough for Alan.  ‘It was absolutely fantastic,’ he said. ‘I’d love to do it again.’

Tandem is a great way for those new to skydiving to experience the thrill of freefall. Every skydiver is harnessed to a professional parachute instructor, enabling them to relax and enjoy the sensation of freefall over Fife.

Because this is a tandem skydive, volunteers are be able to jump from a much higher altitude -10,000 feet – and have the opportunity to steer the parachute before the instructor takes over to steer them safely back to the landing zone.

Volunteers are asked to raise £395 in sponsorship from family, friends and colleagues, of which £140 is be donated to the new pyjamas campaign for Scotland’s new Sick Kids hospital to be built in Edinburgh. Any monies raised over the £395 will go directly to the campaign too.

The skydive will take place at Fife airfield on 24 and 25 April and all those who wish to register must do so by 28 February. That gives nearly six weeks to find lots of sponsors.

The new pyjamas website, www.newpyjamas.org , has lots of information about the skydive. To register your place, please telephone Alice Will on 0131 659 7010 or email her at alice@newpyjamas.org.
