Police are appealing for information to help locate the family of a man who died at his home in Edinburgh on Friday (December 12).

Alistair Bannerman, 56, was found dead at his home in Redbraes Place, in the Pilrig area of the city, at around midday. There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death, and a report has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

Mr Bannerman, who stayed alone, is believed to have been born in England, and may have spent time in the Army. He was married, but later divorced.

A police spokesman said: 'We are keen for any information that can help us track down Mr Bannerman's relatives, and anyone who can help us is urged to contact us as soon as possible.'

Anyone with any information should contact Lothian and Borders Police on 0131 311 3083, or Crimestoppers in confidence and complete anonymity on 0800 555 111.
