New walkway for Waverley

A walkway is to be constructed across the roof of a city shopping centre to help disabled people access Waverley Station.

The route, which would run from Princes Street across the top of the Princes Mall, would lead to a lift connecting the shopping centre with the station below.

The plans are part of Network Rail's £14 million scheme to replace the Waverley Steps with three banks of escalators. All maintenance costs for the walkway would be met by Network Rail.
