New look for gateway to Waverley

New images of the proposed entrance to Waverley Station have been released, as Network Rail submitted its plans to the Scottish Parliament.

The plans will see a new covered step and escalator access created between Princes Street and the north entrance to Waverley station, replacing the existing Waverley Steps.

A lift access from the station to the roof of Princes Mall would also be designed, and proposals have been outlined for a raised walkway from Princes Street to the lifts, to help with disabled access.

Work on the £6.6 million development could start by the end of the year if the plans are approved. The final designs have been amended following a large public consultation last year.
