Mum’s the Word for Barnardo’s

People in Edinburgh and the Lothians are invited to buy Mother’s Day’s gifts from children’s charity.

Children’s charity Barnardo’s is offering unique Mother’s Day presents that will change lives and be remembered for years to come.

An inspiring range of life changing ethical gifts have been launched by Barnardo’s for Mothering Sunday (14 March) and it is inviting people in Edinburgh and the Lothians to purchase the gift from the children’s charity.

The ‘real gifts’ priced from £10 to £100 come with a personalised Mother’s Day card which will be sent to mum on your behalf, explaining exactly what your gift will mean for a disadvantaged child.

Real gifts for mum include:

A £10 gift will provide a kettle which will ensure a mum in temporary accommodation can heat up food and provide hot water for her children. A small gift but very effective.

£10 can also provide a peaceful night for those children who are the victims of domestic violence. Night time can become a dark and frightening place but a simple gift such as a nightlight can help these children enjoy a peaceful night’s sleep.

Just £15 can help children with Autism to communicate more easily. Children with autism can be locked in a world of silence, unable to talk, communicate or understand. A special Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) enables an autistic child to communicate more easily with those around them.

A £25 gift can pay for a professional sitter for parents caring for a sick or disabled child to have a few hours break. This gift ensures that the child receives the specialist care they require, so setting the parents’ minds at rest.
