Scotland’s national youth theatre has the answer with 1 & 2 week performance courses!

Scottish Youth Theatre has over 35 years experience in giving young people the chance to learn more about the world of theatre – and that doesn’t just mean drama. During the Summer Festival performance courses, every aspect of being involved in a stage production is explored. Music, movement, voice, dance, singing, behind the scenes … even devising your own unique piece of theatre from scratch!

Young people in Edinburgh have the chance to take part in the Summer Festival at the city’s prestigious venue, the Festival Theatre. The one week Junior Course runs from 8 – 13 August and is designed for 8-11 years and the more advanced two week Foundation Course runs from 18 – 30 July and is for 12-15 years.

SYT’s annual Summer Festival is the organisation’s flagship event with courses happening across the country in Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Glasgow. The company counts Gerard Butler, Billy Boyd and new Dr Who sidekick Karen Gillan as just a few famous Scots that have taken part in the Summer Festival program in their formative years.

"It was so fun, why did it have to end?" - Matthew, 14, Edinburgh
