Children can make their own recycled zoo as part of a week-long Eco Fair launching today.

Part of the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland's commitment to conservation and the environment, it lasts until Sunday 22.

Children will have the chance to make bird feeders today and can create a "recycled zoo", making animals from reusable materials.

Ruth Miller, the society's education officer, said: "By the very nature of our work, we have a great appreciation of the environment and conservation. We hope we can educate and encourage visitors on various ways to help combat climate change – the largest threat to global biodiversity."

Stalls across the zoo will offer tips on topics such as Fairtrade and energy and water efficiency.
