Horse event rides wave of nostalgia

Hundreds of horses and riders will parade through the city streets in the revival of a centuries-old tradition.

The Edinburgh Riding of the Marches will take place in September after an absence of more than 60 years.

Around 300 people will ride around the south and centre of the city, dressed in colourful sashes. They will finish by riding past Holyrood Palace and up the Royal Mile, to be greeted by the Lord Provost at the City Chambers.
