Football cancelled as fire closes eastbound M8The eastbound carriageway of the M8 has been shut after a fire involving a lorry.

The incident, which occurred near Shotts, has prompted extensive tailbacks.

The Heart of Midlothian football game against Kilmarnock at Tynecastle has been cancelled as a consequence.

The fire broke out at junction five, Kirk of Shotts, and authorities have established diversions to enable motorists to avoid the worst of the delays.

Drivers can leave the M8 at junction 6 (E) onto the A73 (S) and the B7066, before returning to the M8 at Junction five.

Strathclyde Police request the drivers do not exit their vehicles.
