A cheque for £6000 has been handed over to Maggie's Cancer Care by workers from the Capital who kept on walking for the cause.

More than 20 staff from the property consultant company Ryden took part in the charity's ten-mile Life Walk – raising thousands in the process.

Teams from the company competed in both the Edinburgh and Glasgow walks to raise the funds.

The group – with offices on North Castle Street – has donated £33,000 to Maggie's since last summer when a fundraising partnership began with the cancer charity. Other activities have included quiz nights, a "bike and hike", competitions, raffles and dress down days.

Grant Yuill, Maggie's corporate partnerships coordinator, said: "Cancer affects us all at some point in our lives, whether as a patient, carer, friend or family member, and this is why Maggie's has such a valuable role in providing information and psychological and emotional support.

"The generosity and time that Ryden has given to Maggie's over the past 18 months has not only raised vital funds, but has also helped raise awareness across the UK."
