Edinburgh is to be turned into a giant assault course for a race expected to attract 1,500 runners.

Men's Health Survival of the Fittest will see competitors tackle a different obstacle every kilometre of the 10km route.

Participants will face challenges such as a giant hay bale wall, an Army-style assault course, jumps and a high wire.

The event, which was held for the first time last year in Nottingham, is due to take place on 18 October.
