Police in Edinburgh are appealing for witnesses after a woman was robbed in Greyfriars Cemetery yesterday morning (March 18).

The 27-year-old was in the graveyard with her 17-month-old son, at about 11.45am, when another woman approached her and robbed her. The suspect then headed off down Candlemaker Row.

The suspect is described as being white, 19-25-years-old, between 5ft 5-8ins tall, and of stocky build. She spoke with an Edinburgh accent, had blonde hair, which was tied back, and was wearing a white baseball cap.

A police spokeswoman said: 'Although the woman was not injured, this incident has left her understandably shaken.

'We would ask anyone who was in the area at the time, and who maybe saw what happened, to contact police. Alternatively, we would also be keen to talk to anyone who recognises the description of the suspect.'

Anyone with information is asked to contact Lothian and Borders Police on 0131 311 3131 or Crimestoppers in confidence and complete anonymity on 0800 555 111.
