Village and community halls in Scotland perform a vital role in rural areas but the volunteers who run these halls are finding it difficult to keep them running as funding has been cut and costs rise. It is time that their value was recognised by putting a new grant scheme and support service in place.

Capability Scotland, one of the country's leading disability organisations, is thrilled to have smashed its 60 walker target for next Sunday's Great Scottish Walk. The walk will be part of the organisation's 60th anniversary celebrations.

A new subsidy scheme for Edinburgh based Volunteer Involving Organisations to support them to achieve the National Investing in Volunteers Standard has been launched. The Edinburgh Subsidy Scheme is managed by Volunteer Centre Edinburgh and funded by the City of Edinburgh Council.
